Thanks to our generous colleagues, members and customers, we’ve already raised over £60,000 in donations for the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) appeal, to help people in war torn Yemen.

In addition to this we’re directing £50,000 from donations generated by Co-op Fairbourne Springs Water, to ensure clean water supplies for Yemen.

Working with our partners, The One Foundation, this will directly benefit 13,333 people and help to fund:

  • Repair works to the water supply system
  • Reconnecting water in school and health institutions
  • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Provision of 6,000 water filters

A big thank you

The response from Co-op members, customers and our colleagues to this humanitarian crisis has been overwhelming. It’s inspiring to see the impact we can have when we come together as a Co-op.

Unfortunately, this worsening humanitarian crisis has not gone away and Yemen’s population remains at risk of catastrophic hunger as food imports continue to plunge. Before the appeal was launched trends were showing that the war torn country would effectively run out of food in a few months without intervention.

We have a long standing commitment to support DEC appeals. We hope that our support for this appeal through January can contribute even more to help people suffering in Yemen.
