This week, British Athletics announced a 49-strong team that’ll represent the country at the World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 and we’re proud to say our very own Carly Tait has been selected!

Qualifying is another amazing achievement for former fitness-phobe Carly, who works in our Food Digital Marketing team and also made it all the way to the Rio Paralympics, representing Great Britain in the 100m wheelchair race.

The WPC is the biggest para athletics event outside of the Paralympics and London is hosting the event later this year in July (14 – 23 July). Carly will be racing in the T34 100m, 400m and 800m.

She recently visited her former school to tell her story, and popped back to 1 Angel Square to catch up with her colleagues. Take a look at this video to see how she’s inspiring others:

As part of our support for Carly and British athletics, we’re Official Convenience Retailer of the World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 and will be supplying the food for the 4,000 volunteer games makers (known as runners at the WPC) and athletes.

If you missed out on the colleague ticket offer, look out for an email going to all members on Saturday 10 June with another opportunity to get discounted tickets to the WPC and support Carly and the British Athletics Team.

Interested in hearing more from Carly? Keep an eye out for our next issue of Let’s Talk about Food, arriving Thursday 13 July!
