This year Marple Senior Citizens’ Association celebrates 50 years of providing the over 60s in the area with fun, friendship and food.
With 401 members on their books, the committee, led by Bernie Lazars, put on a variety of activities including sequence dancing, indoor bowls, card games and the ever popular Scrabble club.
Bernie was thrilled to bits with the £2,800 they received through our Co-op membership.
“It was an amazing amount of money for us. It will enable us to improve the area at the back of our hall which is completely overgrown.
“We’re going to pave it and turn it into a place where people can sit and enjoy the outdoors. We certainly didn’t expect the Co-op to help us clear it – that’s saved us thousands of pounds.”
Watch the film to see how colleagues from Marple Co-op have given their local cause more than just money.
