10 parkruns. 50km. 3,000 recipe boxes.

We’re one month into our partnership with parkrun and we’ve loved meeting parkrunners all across the UK, on our mission to create a healthier and happier community through exercise, food and lifestyle.

Co-op colleagues have been blogging about their parkrun experience at parkrun.org.uk, like Stephen Chapman, manager of our Petrol Roundhay store:

“Since starting parkrun back in April 2012 I have taken part in 260 parkruns and have been lucky enough to visit 40 different events so far, from Edinburgh to Guildford. I’m relatively new to Co-op after joining just six months ago, however upon joining it reminded me of parkrun with the strong sense of community and passion for championing a better way of doing business. My store is very active in supporting the local community and I know this is the same across the length and breadth of the UK which is what makes this partnership so special. It is so rewarding to know that I am supporting my local community at work and also at the weekends and I’m really excited for how this partnership will develop.”

We know lots of our colleagues enjoy parkrun so we’ve got 200 stylish Co-op running vests to give away if you’d like one to wear at your local parkrun. Update: All the running vests were quickly snapped up so we’re sorry to say they’ve all gone.

Why not share a photo on social media of you at your local parkrun? Use #parkrunxCoop so we can see your post and we’ll send you some likes!

  1. I just completed my 50th Parkrun in Antrim NI 11 Nov. Is there any CO-OP events coming to Northern Ireland?

  2. Just completed my 50th Parkrun – PB 20:32 🙂

  3. I started Parkrun 2 weeks ago after being registered for a year ! , I took 6 mins off my time last week, which is very satisfying indeed. I was always told I wasn’t built for running, and always last to be picked for the teams at school…. however I am having a good go now, hoping to set a PB this Saturday too in Memorial Park Coventry. 🙂

  4. Are there any park runs near Avonmouth, Bristol?

  5. Received my Co-op vest today and can’t wait to go out running in it 🙂

  6. I went to the Park Run at Stretford on Saturday. There was no Coop presence there at all. Overall it is a good idea, but I cannot find any mention of the Coop on the park run website.

    • Sorry it’s taken a while to get back to you Pete. Just to let you know, we’re looking into this with the team who organise our activity with parkrun.

    • Hi Pete,

Sorry for the delay, due to local store set ups we weren’t able to make this one, we had originally hoped to but we had to make a change.

Our agreement with parkrun means that we’ve decide to only talk about our partnership in certain places. Sorry if it’s confusing but between Co-op and parkrun we’re all trying to make the best journey possible for all the runners.

We hope your run went well and that we’ll get to a parkrun near you soon!

  7. How about Andover?, we have some of us that join the parkrun here too.

  8. What about Scotland? We too do Parkrun !

    • Hi both, a really great location, I’ll pass it to the team as an idea for the future. We love Marple!

    • I’ll add Marple to the suggestions list! We’ll flag it to the local team as well, we’re all about community spirit! Good luck with your parkruns!

  10. Hi When will you be visiting a parkrun in the Manchester area, I work at Angel square but I am a member at Hyde Parkrun.
