Despite a record-breaking number of entries, and competition from PwC, Virgin Media and Heineken, we won the 2018 edie award for sustainability reporting in London this week.

The Sustainability Leaders Awards recognise excellence in sustainable business – from corporate social responsibility to innovation and behaviour change campaigns.

Our award was based on our Co-op Way Report which looks at our ethics and sustainability performance – including statistics and targets, alignment to sustainable development goals, sector benchmarks and UK national averages. The 2016 report was downloaded five times more than in previous years.

Our 2017 report will be published in April with our Annual Report.

The judges told us:

This accomplishment is one of the highest accolades for sustainability in the corporate sector, and your achievements within this division deserve to be widely recognised and celebrated!”

We were also shortlisted for two other awards – CSR, Charity and Community initiative, and Iain Ferguson who heads our recycling and packaging strategy was shortlisted for Sustainability Leader.

Thanks to everyone who has played a part in creating our sustainability strategy, and to those colleagues who bring it to life in our businesses.

  1. Well done all, great to be back in the limelight and leading the way again. Also, not forgetting our commitment to increasing the recyclability of all our OB packaging, not just plastic, even before it was a focus for the Government 😀

  2. That’s amazing! Congrats Guys..
