When colleagues from the buying team heard that Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home needed donations of dog food following an increase in the number of stray and unwanted dogs after Christmas, they stepped in to help.

After spending time there earlier in the year volunteering, the team arranged a special delivery of 7,700 portions of dog food to feed the furry friends at the Harpurhey-based shelter.

Joseph Walker, Co-op Pet Food Buyer, said: “We really wanted to offer a helping hand after hearing about the increased demand on the shelter and with the support from our pet food supplier, C&D Foods we were able to donate this food. We hope the dogs especially love our food and woof it up!”
