Travel insurance

When Co-op Travel Insurance launched in January, we knew that it was special, as the first general insurer to pay for medical fees upfront (available in selected destinations. Important limitations, restrictions & excess apply. Visit our website for more info.)

Our aim was to show our Co-op difference and disrupt the market. We’re really proud that we’ve now been named a Which? Recommended Supplier for Travel Insurance.

We want to celebrate this achievement, and encourage everyone to try this product for themselves. For this double discount weekend only (6th & 7th July 2018 inclusive) we have a Co-op Insurance first, double discount – 20% off – on Co-op Travel Insurance (excludes optional extras).

Claim your discount with the code colleague20 and if you’re going with the family you’ll also get your kids covered for free (this offer covers up to 3 children under the age of 18 per paying adult, excludes cover for pre-existing  medical conditions and ends on 30/09/18.)

  1. Will you be doing this deal again. Going away in December and forgot to book it yesterday.

    • Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying. I caught up with the Travel Insurance team and unfortunately there aren’t currently any plans to run this discount again.

You can use colleague10 to get a 10% colleague discount all year round though.

  2. Hi – applied for travel insurance last night. completed all details but no where did I see my double discount deduction. total price was £53,56. called customer service (on the previous call was told they are open until 10pm) this was at 8.15pm. on hold for 20 mins- gave up / selected option 2 – tld they are open until 8pm. So I used Chat option and was told u should have seen the deduction – nope no where. Daniella (Customer Service operator) explained that the deduction was applied – but this is very misleading as it is shown no where once applied

Also waiting for my paperwork – only received certificate but even on that there is no breakdown.
not a very good experience especially for a member employee

    • Hi Dave,

Thanks for your feedback, I’ve passed your comments on to the Travel Insurance team who have taken this on board. They’ve let me know that the discount should have displayed at the top of the ‘select your cover page’ which is early on in the online journey so sorry if you missed this.

The team have agreed that the on-hold time was unacceptable and are working to make sure that this is improved.

You should have had an email with the paperwork after booking your policy, but I’ve been told that if your email address ends cfs.coop this doesn’t always work. Really sorry if this is the case – they will be posted out to you but can take about ten days to arrive.

      Thanks,

      Sarah

  3. I had a quote for myself and Husband including all medical details. The quote came back over £259 whereas my current insurer who happens to be Insure and Go quoted a renewal of £168.75. Big difference even with the discount

    • Hi Karen, I too got a quote which was more expensive than Co-op’s competitors, but you have to consider the benefits against price. Remember; Co-op Travel offers cashless medical expenses, meaning you don’t have to pay for minor medical treatment yourself and then claim back the money through the claims process. It also provides “Homecare” which is injury aftercare when you get home that many standard policies don’t provide and medical expenses are unlimited. I noticed my cover with Virgin was £10m. This sounds a lot but I was reading horror stories of some people needing to stay in hospital for months abroad and this can soon evaporate.
I probably sound like a sales man! I’m not! But I would definitely get Co-op Travel next time as those kinds of benefits are unique at the mo in the travel world and if something does go wrong then £70 difference doesn’t actually feel like a lot in the grand scheme of things… ;o)

  4. Dam! just renewed with AXA 😦

  5. Does this work online or do we need to ring up 🙂

    • Hi Laura,

It will work online. Just type colleague20 into the ‘Promotional Code’ box on the webpage on a double discount day.

      Sarah

  6. […] PLUS, don’t forget that we also have a great ‘kids go free’ offer on travel insurance at the moment and we offer pet insurance too. And just added: For these double discount days only (Fri 6 and 7 Jul), we have a Co-op Insurance first – 20% off travel insurance for colleagues (excludes optional extras) – see the details of this offer.
