As our Travel Insurance Manager, I’m pleased to say we’re bringing back Double Discount on Co-op Travel Insurance for this month on Fri 28 and Sat 29 Sep. That means 20% off either annual or single trip policies (excluding optional extras and cover for pre-existing medical conditions) – just use the code ‘colleague20’ at the checkout. If you’re a parent, like me, you’ll get a double benefit as it’s the last chance to cover your kids (excluding any medical conditions they have) for free (ends 30 Sep).

Last time we ran this Double Discount we thought it would be a one off. We were really pleased that loads of you decided to try our Which? recommended product and asked if we were planning to do this again. That’s why we’ve decided to give colleagues another chance to get this discount. We’re running this offer for this month’s event only, so make sure you take advantage, even if you’re not travelling for a while.

Electrical and Beds

I knew about getting 10% discount at Co-op Electrical during Double Discount days. But I’ve found out the electrical team are also offering up to £50 off and free delivery, connection and removal (saving a further £54.97) on selected washing machines, washer dryers and dishwashers, until 1 Oct. As a Co-op Member, you can get extra discounts too. Just enter your membership number and promo code CLEAN15 at the checkout.

If you need a new bed, you can take advantage of 10% Double Discount on 28/29 Sep plus another 10% off everything at Co-op Beds – sounds like a great time to buy to me.

I often visit my local Co-op Food during Double Discount. I work with suppliers and partners and we always try and get them excited about all our products. Our Prosecco and chocolate always get rave reviews. This month I’ve seen a poster about an Italian meal – lasagne, garlic bread and tiramisu – for under £5 for colleague members on Double Discount days. It’s definitely the best time to treat yourself.

Colleague member discounts available across all businesses, all year

Because I work for Insurance I’m aware of the discounts offered all the time on all our Insurance products. Colleague members can get discount on Home, Motor, Travel and Pet insurance.

It’s also great peace of mind to know my colleague membership card entitles me to lots of discounts on Co-op Legal Services and Co-op Funeralcare too.

If you’re thinking ahead, getting £400 off a funeral plan isn’t a bad saving and I’ve heard really good things from colleagues who’ve taken out a will.

Visit coop.co.uk/benefits for all the details about our discounts, and more.

If you’re not already, sign up now to be a colleague member.

  1. I did give the Travel Insurance people a call as suggested. Just to advise colleagues, the 10% discount only applies to the base price part of the policy (that’s the healthy, no issues, cheapest bit). Any pre-med insurance requirements are not covered by the discount (that’s the expensive bit). You can decide for yourselves if that’s exclusion or not, although you would get the same discount as a healthy person. I am also a member of Which. If any colleagues who have pre-med conditions or family members with pre-meds then contact the Association of British Insurers and explain your situation. They will recommend the right experts to talk to. Very often Insurers claim to have medical experts on the phone but my experience is that the larger organisations are generally working to a set of criteria and a tick box exercise that pops out a number that cannot be changed.

  2. The discount code still doesn’t work!
    Promotional code ”colleague20” is undefined.

    • Hi there, it is working now. Started out promising at £75 for platinum cover, until my existing medical condition was disclosed £595!! Wow, think i’ll leave that one!

    • Hi Stephen,

We’re aware of a slight error with the code.

If you get the error message then press ‘get quote’ again it should work.

      We’re working on a fix

  3. Can family members use the discount for travel?

    • Hi Ben. Yes they can – just enter the code ‘colleague20’ in the promotional box at checkout this Friday 28 and Saturday 29 September for the discount to be applied (T&Cs apply of course!). Thanks, ^Kevin

  4. Just to let you know that entering ‘colleague20’ no longer works. It says the code has expired

  5. How can Which recommend a product that excludes people with pre-med conditions? Seems like the whole Travel Insurance business only wants to insure 100% healthy individuals. If your healthy then you can get cover, if not, your excluded. If it so happens that your wife/husband/children have a medical conditions then they are excluded. As a Co-op colleague with a member of the family who’s had a serious illness it just feels like a kick in the teeth when you read this stuff.

    • Hi Robert. Our Travel Insurance specifically says that it will cover pre-existing medical conditions – it;s part of our Co-op difference. Perhaps it may be best to give them a call to discuss your needs: 0330 400 1626. Thanks, ^Kevin
