I had a really good night at the Pioneer Awards. The atmosphere was electric, the crowd were amazing and the setup was top notch. Everything about it was just brilliant.

I’ve done a lot of gigs over the years, but this was one of my favourites – I felt like a proper little VIP. In some ways it felt like a lifetime achievement, even though I’m only 21!

There was an opportunity to have dancers and that sort of stuff in my performance, but I really wanted the emotion of my song to come across. So in the end it was just me and a mic.

When I was up on stage the adrenaline and excitement took over, so I don’t really remember much of it! But lots of people came over to congratulate me afterwards, which was nice.

It was the first time I’ve performed my song Lights On to a large audience. Recording it in a proper studio was great, but to be able to take a song I’ve written and perform it on a big stage was just brilliant.

My colleagues in store haven’t stopped asking me questions ever since, and I’ve had some really nice emails since I got back to Dorset. It’s been lovely to hear from people after the event.

I released my EP at midnight on the night of the awards, it’s called Based on True Events and you can find it on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. The reception to it has been amazing, it’s had more listeners than anything else I’ve put out this year and it’s only been out a week!
