It was great to see curry as the focus of our new TV ad. It’s a dish that’s always had a special place in my heart, probably because of the fond memories I have of enjoying it with my friends and family.

In the 1970s it was all about cramming round the dining table with my mam, dad and brother as we tucked into a Vesta beef curry ready meal as a special treat!

Fast forward to my university days when my flatmate used to make a knockout pork vindaloo. He’d serve it on a massive plate and we’d all devour it as fast as we could, before the heat kicked in. Curry has come a long way since then, but the memories will stay with me forever.

I like to think I’m a seasoned pro at knocking up a curry from scratch nowadays. My one-pan vegetable biryani  went down a storm on a recent camping trip. Check out the latest edition of Let’s talk about food for the recipe, I’d love to know what you think.

I’ll definitely be picking up two Co-op curries and four bottles of Coors Light for £7. It’s the perfect excuse to invite round the usual suspects for a curry night, as well as a good old fashioned catch up.

I don’t mind tears streaming down my face or getting the vindaloo sweats, but you can’t go wrong with a Co-op chicken korma or chicken tikka masala every now and again, especially since they’re made with 100% British chicken and taste amazing!

I checked in the high street coop in Manchester last night, I saw no vegetarian or vegan options which is a shame, I would have liked to get the deal.

I’m vegan and coop used to do a really good Veg curry meal, but I can’t see it anywhere anymore.

  9. Good deal but not as good as the £5 bud and 2 pizzas deal during the world cup.

    • Literally two minutes ago a lady came to the till with two curries for a fiver, I told her about the coors for £2 extra and she said no. We need to up the ante on this one Co-op. £7 isn’t cutting it.
