I read that we were giving colleagues a chance to win a tour of the famous Coronation Street in Let’s Talk About Food. I’d seen how totally amazing it looked from the guys who’d previously been on it. The first thing that came to mind was my mum, she really loves Corrie! I thought I’d take her with me because she’d be chuffed to bits.

Everything was super cool from the get-go and it was much more fun sharing the experience with other colleagues, we all got on great from the start.

We got to see much more than I expected because of Co-op’s Coronation Street partnership, we were very lucky. We went on a Friday, but they don’t usually do tours on that day because they use the sets to film. We were bowled over because it meant we got to see some of the stars of the street doing their stuff.

And can you believe it? The outdoor set is an actual real life street. They don’t actually film inside them though, they’ve got sets for all the insides of the houses and shops in another nearby studio. As we were special VIPs, we got to see those too!

The tour guide even gave us a sneak peek into what was coming up on some of the storylines and told us why there’s a weasel in the new barbers shop – it’s a nod to the infamous Corrie character David Platt and his shifty past.

Co-op’s partnership with Coronation Street was well overdue. When I heard it was happening I was so pleased it was Co-op joining up with this national institution and not another retailer. Thanks to those who made the tour possible for me and mum, we had such a great day.
