One of our core commitments as a business is to give everyone access to new, exciting learning opportunities which can help you develop your career here at Co-op.

That’s why we created Leadfest – our festival of learning. We’re bringing you some fantastic sessions designed to be interactive and engaging. There’s a range of different topics to enhance your personal development, and to help you better understand our Co-op behaviours and what’s expected of you as a leader or a colleague at our Co-op.

For the first time ever, we’re excited to announce that we’re bringing Leadfest to more places than before, meaning everyone can get involved! We’re running Leadfest sessions across the UK from Monday 16 September – Thursday 31 October. They’ll be held in food store training rooms, depots, funeral homes and our insurance and legal services offices all over the country.

You’re able to book onto these sessions now, all you have to do is check out the E-mag schedule on the Leadfest Intranet page. Remember you’ll need to agree to your attendance to these events with your line manager, as it will be at your leaders’ discretion to sign off hours if they think you might benefit from attending an event.

If you can’t join us on tour, you can also check out our Leadfest 2019 Community on MyLearning (our new Learning Management System). You’ll be able to find some of our Leadfest online learning sessions here which you can take part in in your own time. MyLearning is still currently being rolled out to colleagues across the business, and will be available to Commercial and Food operational colleagues by the end of September.

For those of you who want to join some of our Manchester sessions, Leadfest is still ongoing until the end of August. We have a number of events you can get involved in

We hope everyone will take this opportunity and get involved either in person or through our Leadfest community. So, what are you waiting for, book your session today!

  1. Sorry guys but his is a missed opportunity for the easy booking of courses for those store based leaders. None of our equipment instore has the ability to access that site due to firewall restrictions. All barriers removed to enable easy access in future please. Wasted a lot of time today which we don’t have, trying to access.

  2. We seem to be struggling to register for events in store as our back office will not allow us access to the eventbrite site.

  3. I agree with Bobs comment about lack of development / training in operational roles. I have been trying to get VBA training as I use it in my role. Everything I do is Excel based and I have been self learning (you tube and the internet to find out how to do the coding.) My work and the people it support have had the benefit of this to be faster and more efficient.” Work smarter not harder”. But no funds available for this type of training. They gave me a buddy initially which helped greatly but that didn’t give me the base knowledge to understand VBA and the correct way to code. With me its more trial and error than understanding and base knowledge.

    • Hi Chris,

Thanks for your feedback – I’ll pass your comments onto the Leadership team.

      Kind regards,

      Natasha

  4. Are there any plans to start a training system that is not management staff orientated? With Leadfest and many other schemes over the last 5 years they have prioritised things such as networking and Leadership skills.
However Management in the co-op is a minority. Retail/celerical/technical workers make up the majority. Yet we see no schemes or projects aimed at practical workplace skills.
When will we start to focus and develop the community of dedicated workers who want to excel in their job role, who are currently marginalised because they don’t plan on being senior managers some day?

    • Hi Bob,

Thanks for your feedback, I’ll pass your comments onto the leadership team.

      Kind regards,

      Natasha

  5. Unfortunately, I left it too late – the Manchester sessions I wanted to book (resilience & storytelling sessions) on were already fully booked by early Aug. Hopefully the opportunity will come up again in the near future, they look great!

    • Hi Lindsey,

Sorry to hear you missed out on these workshops – there has been a great take-up on events. Feel free to book onto any on tour sessions that are convenient for you to get to 🙂

      Natasha
