It was one of the proudest moments of my career last week, when I got to pick up a really special award for Store Design of the Year at the prestigious Retail Industry Awards. It was for our Piccadilly Station Approach in Manchester which is a new Food to Go concept we’ve designed. It was praised for both design and functionality and I’m so proud that we’ve received industry recognition
Food to Go is the fastest growing sector of the convenience market, so when we were designing and refitting our new concept store, we wanted to set it apart as a Food to Go mission store, and meet evolving shopper needs. The judges loved our ‘zoning’ and signage which make it easier to find different sections such as breakfast, snacking or coffee, our new test propositions like Milkshakes and One Water feature and our energy efficient materials such as Aerofoils and LED lighting.
It’s all been such a great team effort so it was a real honour to pick up the award on everyone’s behalf!
But we didn’t just win one award at the event, we also picked up awards for Convenience Retailer of the Year and Food-to-go Retailer of the Year, recognising our growth and innovation in the market.
These awards don’t just recognise the colleagues who develop the ideas, products and formats. It’s thanks to each and every one of our Food colleagues delivering a brilliant offer and service, that brings it all to life in store for our customers.
All our hard work, dedication and commitment is being recognised. We’re a stronger Co-op than ever before and it makes me so proud of all that we’ve achieved and all that we’re doing.
