We’ve recently announced Tech in a Van, which is our unique partnership with three maintenance providers City Buildings and Engineering Services (CBES), Link Contracting and Lancer Scott. The partnership is designed to provide essential services to over 3,500 Co-op food stores and funeral homes. It’s allowed us to develop a more personalised solution, resulting in a team of highly skilled engineers who will all be delivering fantastic services with enhanced quality, workmanship and consistency to sites in their local areas.
Starting in January and running for the next five years, Tech in a Van will offer a dedicated maintenance service, with the three suppliers – all in Co-op branded uniform and vehicles – responsible for handling a wide range of general maintenance and repair work such as plumbing, joinery, brickwork and electrical works.
We’re hopeful Tech in a Van will also add value to our communities by supporting local jobs, thanks to the network of local tradespeople that we will be reliant on, who are assigned to stores and homes in their areas. As the maintenance engineers are all based in our communities, deeper relationships can also be formed between them and the food stores and funeral homes they work alongside. The partnership also includes the development of a training and apprenticeship scheme, which in turn will create opportunities to develop a pipeline of skilled talent along with plans for skilled tradespeople to support local community projects.
The smooth running of our food stores and funeral homes is essential for us to deliver what our members and customers want and need. At our core, we want to make sure we’re deliver the best customer experiences, whilst continuing to maintain the safety and wellbeing of all our colleagues and customers.
