Anyone who was glued to I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here last night might have spotted our 2019 Christmas Advert ‘Not-so-silent night’, which is a touching story of celebrating everyday Christmas moments. The advert follows a family enjoying a quiet moment together at home, tucking into some mince pies. Unbeknownst to them, they are joined by a brass band playing Fairy Tale of New York.

If you haven’t managed to see it on TV yet, check it out below:

If you saw our other Co-op adverts earlier this year, it will feel quite familiar.

It’s a tender moment about being together at Christmas and captures how everyone can support local causes, simply through the sale of our own brand products and services. Together, we can do amazing things as we’ve seen with The Big Co-op Payout.

This year, local causes received a share of £17m that members have raised through the latest round of our Local Community Fund. This year, we feature BTM Brass Band on the advert, who are one of our local causes from Wales.

Mark Hutchinson, BTM Brass Band said:

“We were honoured to be asked to take part in the Co-op Christmas advert this year – it was such a special day, albeit a bit odd to be celebrating Christmas day in September! We were one of 4000+ local causes the Co-op supported last year, and we’re using our share of the payout to buy new music and refurbish instruments for our two youth bands to learn new pieces. We can’t thank the Co-op and its members enough for all it has done for us and the other causes.”

The advert was directed by Stacy Wall, who has created some incredible and iconic advertising campaigns for brands such as Nike and Coca-Cola. He said:

The commitment and support Co-op provide to the communities they serve added truth to a spot intended as a Christmas card from Co-op to the UK. It was an honour and a privilege to work on such an elegant and simple idea for Co-op.”

We hope you all enjoy our advert this year. Please let us know what you think of it and let us know what your favourite Christmas product is below.

  1. Great, relevant and what we are all about, well done all

  2. The sentiment of this ad is just lovely, perfect for Christmas. My favourite products so far have to be the cauliflower cheese crisps and the clementine smoked salmon.
