November was an incredible month for award wins across Co-op. From product awards showcasing the best and most delicious food, to corporate awards celebrating the difference we make as a business, we’ve successfully picked up over 50 awards and accreditations in the last few months.
One of my stand-out moments was our success at the Q Awards. Judged by professionals from around the industry, these awards celebrate the best of the best. Our Ready to Cook Chicken Tikka Masala won the Best Ready Meal – Meat. This is a complete meal for 2 at just £5, offering fantastic value for money and incredible quality. It’s the first of its kind and takes ready meals to another level, I hope everyone will try it! Additionally, in categories ranging from meats, pizzas and desserts, we won a further 9 awards and were also commended / highly commended for 16 additional products. This is an amazing achievement and showcases how incredible our products are.
But these aren’t the only awards we’ve collected recently.
We’re well into the festive season now and our Christmas range is being recognised. The Olive Christmas Awards are designed to help make things that little bit easier by highlighting all the great food and drink available. I’m delighted to let you know that our Irresistible Beech Oak Smoked Salmon received a bronze accolade. Our salmon also came second in the Good Housekeeping Christmas Awards, as the judges loved the woody flavours from the beech and oak smoking. Our Winter’s Eve pudding scooped a second place for the best mince pie with a twist and we had products featured in the top ten of 11 other categories which is a huge achievement. 11 of our Christmas lines were also acknowledged and received accreditation by The Grocer.
The improvement in our Time Spent at Checkout score was awarded the Top Partnership Insight award at the SMG Awards. Since we launched Your Store, Your Say we’ve seen this score climb 10% across the estate, and SMG highlighted this as one of the best examples of driving improvement for customers from feedback.
The IGD Awards celebrate the best of the global food and consumer goods industry, and we took home two awards on the night. We won the IGD Shopper Activation for our 2019 festival partnership, which saw us open a Co-op pop up shop in over 8 festivals including Glastonbury. We also won the IGD Sustainable Futures for our Future of Food plan, where we look at how we tackle sustainability challenges up to the year 2030. The PAPA awards showcase and recognise the finest pizza, pasta and Italian food. This is always a fun night and we brought home 3 awards for pizza convenience retailer, the Marketing award for Irresistible Relaunch and the Indulgent award for our Irresistible Truffle & Salami Single Serve.
At the Corp Comms Awards we picked up the top accolade twice in a double win. The Funeralcare PR team were crowned the winners for Best Corporate Campaign. This was in recognition of their work on the Making Peace with Death campaign and highlighting the nation’s attitudes on death, dying and bereavement. Our Modern Slavery campaign conducted over the past few years by the Public Affairs team was awarded the Best Corporate Responsibility Initiative. The campaign also received The Purpose Award at The PRCA Awards, which is great recognition of the incredible work Co-op have done highlighting the issues impacting thousands of people trapped in modern slavery.
Co-op Insurance won the Best in Digital to Customer award at the Insurance Times ‘Tech & Innovation’ Awards. The judges were impressed with our customer and metric focused approach, alongside the lengths we go benchmarking ourselves against competitors and better understanding the challenges customers face.
These are just a snippet of the awards we’ve won recently, and there will be more to come. Let’s celebrate the amazing work we do as a business, how incredible our products and services are, and the commitment from our colleagues.
