We’ve joined forces with Veg Power and ITV for the second year running to inspire children to eat more vegetables.
Veg Power estimate that 80% of children don’t eat enough vegetables, and one-third of children in primary school are classed as overweight. The Eat Them to Defeat Them campaign aims to inspire children to eat healthier by eating their way to victory over vegetables.
We’re two weeks into the campaign, with each week focusing on a different veg: carrots, peas, sweetcorn, broccoli, tomato and peppers. To encourage children to defeat these vegetables, we’ve created some fantastically fun dishes to accompany the campaign, including Carrot Cake Porridge and Spicy Cauli and Corn Wraps which can be seen on our social channels. If you share your favourite recipes each week, you’ll have the chance to win £50 worth of Co-op vouchers!
There are also some simple ways to add some extra veggies into family favourites, such as adding peas into your risotto or broccoli to a pasta bake.
We’re also working closely with our Co-op Academies, giving each participating school an activity pack with posters, veggie lessons and assembly plans to engage and inspire kids to eat a variety of vegetables as part of a balanced and healthy diet.
Please share your favourite veg recipe using #EatThemToDefeatThem on social.
Victory has never tasted so delicious.
