So much to celebrate

This is my favourite part of the week, which is when I get to share the incredible things you do every single day.

You’ve continued to share amazing things you do every week, like Michael Fairbairn from Belford who donated fruit and veg to Whitehouse Farm for animals, so they didn’t go hungry, Katie Fretwell and Kate Parsons from Funeralcare have both been crafting and knitting ear protectors for NHS workers and carers, which make a huge difference to key workers are wearing masks all day. And David Finn, a probate consultant for Legal Services, made a sad situation a little bit easier for a client all the way in Australia who’d lost her father to Covid-19 in the UK.

We all have a special part to play no matter what we do, and each week I love hearing your stories no matter how big or how small.

I’ve pulled together more examples of the incredible things you’re all doing, take a look here and keep a lookout on Yammer and social media for more of our #LocalHeroes.

I also wanted to take the time to remind that for the month of Ramadan has just begun for our Muslim colleagues. I want to say Ramadam Kareem to everyone who’ll be fasting. I know with Mosques closed and family gatherings not possible, the next few weeks will not be easy. But I wish you well for this blessed month.

Dancing our way to Amarillo

Last night, the BBC held a special one off show called The Big Night In to raise money for charities and projects who need support now more than ever. During the show, they played a special and moving tribute to all key and front-line workers to the song ‘Amarillo’ by Peter Kay and Tony Christie and featured our very own Perranporth store!

I was totally floored by the amount of submissions I saw on Yammer, Twitter and Facebook from you all. We saw submissions from all over the business – I even joined in one here with our support colleagues in 1AS, where we all danced and sang in the Atrium.

It was so incredible seeing everyone and all the videos. The exec and I are all so proud of every single one of you – we loved seeing you all having a bit of fun, celebrating yourselves, and dancing away down the aisles.

We’ve collected all the submissions we’ve seen so far together on Twitter, so please keep submitting them in and sharing them.
