Tonight at 7.30pm, Greater Manchester will fill the streets with music as people come Together in One Voice for a mass singalong from their doorsteps and windows.

Drawing from the city’s rich musical heritage, both past and present, the event will bring together hundreds of community organisations, locals and famous faces through the power of song.

The 30-minute jam session will be livestreamed via at 7.30pm as part of Co-op partner Manchester International Festival’s online programme, MIF LIVE, ahead of the weekly clap for carers.

It’ll be captured under social distancing guidelines – with drones, street cameras and residents’ own films – and edited together to produce a film set for national release on the evening of Sunday 31 May.

The event aims to promote community spirit and encourage everyone to take care of their mental health during the current crisis.

Choir Director, Dan McDwyer, has been providing online choir rehearsals in the lead up to the event to promote the benefits of singing for our wellbeing; including friendship, group participation and fun!

If you’re in Greater Manchester tonight at 7.30pm, grab your microphone or hair brush and take to your doorstep to hit those high notes in the North’s biggest singalong.

Not from Greater Manchester? Not a problem! You’re still welcome to join in the fun from wherever you are. You can sing along to the soundtrack on YouTube tonight, or relive the magic with the edited film set to be released on Manchester International Festival’s YouTube channel on Sunday 31 May.
