This week’s #LocalHeroes

I just want to take a moment to reflect on Mental Health Awareness Week and how each of you continue to inspire us daily. We’ve been flooded with news and updates from colleagues raising thousands of pounds throughout the week for our charity partners Mind, SAMH and Inspire. Colleagues took part in marathons, triathlons, bake sales and more to help raise vital funds to help support mental health.

The team at High Street, Invergordon, took part in a 100km static cycle challenge along with 20 other stores. They were joined by strongman competitor Luke Stoltman who popped in to his local Co-op and decided to get involved to help raise money. In total, the 20 stores raised over £5,000 in one week, which is an incredible achievement.

This week, we also heard about a special surprise to celebrate our NHS, carers and key workers at 8pm on Thursday. Our delivery robots in Milton Keynes ‘clapped’ and cheered alongside everyone in the local community, which is impressive considering they have no hands. Take a look at the video by clicking on the image below.

I’m so proud how we continue celebrate together, fundraise for the vulnerable and give support for anyone who needs it. It’s incredible how much we can achieve together. We’ve pulled together some more fantastic Local Hero stories here, so please give them a read. We all love hearing about the amazing work you do, so please continue to share your stories on Yammer and social media using #LocalHeroes.
