By Paul Gerrard, Campaigns and Public Affairs Director

Although this year’s AGM isn’t going to be the usual get-together that many of us look forward to, it’s still set to be a great opportunity for us to connect, look back and take stock of the amazing work of our colleagues and members during the current crisis.

The meeting will be livestreamed via YouTube (coop.uk/agmlive) from 1 Angel Square on Saturday 6 June at 10am. We’ve asked eligible members to vote on everything beforehand, so they can stay safe and watch the event live from the comfort of their own homes. Hopefully you managed to have your say in our elections and motions!

There’ll be a small number of eligible colleague members at 1 Angel Square at the meeting, but this is purely to make sure we meet the governance requirements for the AGM. They’re all local to the area and will be following strict social distancing guidelines.

Please don’t turn up on the day. While we’d love to see you, it’s really important that we continue to do our best to take care of our colleagues and members.

If you tune in to watch the meeting live on Saturday, you’ll hear our Co-op CEO Steve Murrells, our Co-op Chair Allan Leighton, our Independent Non-Executive Director Stevie Spring and our Members’ Council President Nick Crofts talk about:

  • Our 2019 performance
  • The incredible work of our colleagues and members during the coronavirus crisis
  • Our plans for the remainder of 2020, and 2021
  • The results of our Member Nominated Director election

There’ll also be a live Q&A session where you can put your questions to our board – we’ll do our best to answer as many as we can during the event.

You can also watch the meeting live and find more information about the AGM on our app, which is available to Apple and Android users. Just search ‘Co-op Events’ in the app store.

I’m sure you’ll agree that having an opportunity to connect – even digitally – with other colleagues and members feels even more special this year, so please join us live on YouTube on Saturday 6 June at 10am, if you can.
