I’m so proud to be the editor for our latest colleague magazine. In this special edition, we focus on how each and every colleague across Co-op is a #LocalHero.
The last few months things have changed dramatically for us all. Not just in terms of our personal lives, but also how we work and support our communities. Coronavirus and the nationwide lockdown has changed our lives in ways that would have previously been unimaginable.
Whilst there’s no doubt we’ve all faced struggles with this ‘new normal,’ for me, being unable to see my family and friends and finding new ways to collaborate with colleagues have been challenging. More practically, having a holiday and a music festival cancelled as well as not being able to celebrate important birthdays and occasions has been really disappointing. However, I know that for the most vulnerable in our society, including people with physical and mental health conditions, older people, those who are homeless or live alone and many more, this crisis has caused real problems and hardship.
I’m so proud to work for an organisation that has so many businesses that are considered essential to keep the country running during this time. We’ve adapted quickly to keep providing essential services, whilst making sure we keep customers and colleagues safe.
Co-operating to help the community is so much more than a tick box exercise at Co-op. As well as action being taken centrally, colleagues have stepped up without a second thought, to do whatever they can to help in their communities.
With a focus on colleagues’ stories, our latest magazine talks about all this and more. We’ve read hundreds of wonderful tales and it’s been inspiring talking to colleagues from across the business about what they’ve been doing. Sadly we couldn’t include all of the incredible things you do, but no matter what your role or where you’re based, everyone’s a #LocalHero. I hope you share in this pride as you read the magazine.
Some colleagues will receive physical copies to where they work over the next few days but all Co-op colleagues can access this digital version.
