This week’s #LocalHeroes
This week, I received a note from a colleague who wanted to shine a spotlight on David. He’s worked at our Blackwood, Carlisle Road store for the past four years, and before that he worked in a music store for 20 years.
He’s a talented musician and can be found in store singing away, bringing a bit of soul and happiness throughout the day during these difficult times. He’s been writing songs since he was 15 and recently he’s written two incredible songs on topics for things that are close to his heart:
Be The Light was written for Mental Health Awareness and was made as a collaborative effort with his local community
Better Days was inspired by the challenging times we’re currently in, and comes from an EP he has created during lockdown – It’s about looking forward and staying positive
If you’d like to listen to these songs, just click on the two links above – or listen to more of David’s music on SoundCloud. Thank you David for sharing your music with us.
I’d also like to thank colleagues across Funeralcare, with a special call out to Sharon Lindsey and Hayley Atkin. Colleagues have been inspired on Yammer to celebrate 4 July by offering small memorial bags, containing candles and an assortment of items to help families remember their loved ones they’ve lost during the pandemic. It’s a lovely gesture, and some Funeral homes have also been getting their Food colleagues involved too by offering them in store as well.
Thank you everyone for all you’re doing. Click here to read about these Local Hero stories and more. I love hearing about the amazing work you do, so please continue to share your stories on Yammer and social media using #LocalHeroes.
