Co-operation is at the heart of everything we do. We fight social injustices, we support local communities to come together and create a positive impact on community wellbeing. Why? Because each of us care about the world we share, and together we can help create a fairer world for everyone.

In July we launched our new Food advert along with a pledge to donate 20p from every 3 for 2 picnic offer sold. Throughout the first phase of this campaign, we’ve raised an incredible £1.54 million for the National Emergencies Trust. Funds raised are being distributed to grass root projects across the UK who are helping people get access to food, for example through food redistribution and programmes that support groups to get access to nutritious and balanced meals.

To continue our fight against hunger, we’re asking everyone to support their local communities through Co-operate, our online community centre that helps people come together to make good things happen.

Co-operate is more than just volunteering – it’s been created with communities, for communities and is owned by communities. It’s such an important tool to bring together collective likeminded people who are passionate about people who live in their communities and the world they share. There are hundreds of groups on the platform who support access to food, who help tackle food poverty or are involved in food in some way – and many of these groups need your help.

Right now, groups near you are looking for volunteers to help them make a difference. Volunteering your time and offering your support to local food organisations is the most significant way you can help make a real difference. Co-operation and community are so important now more than ever.

If you know of any local groups that offer community services, such as charities, causes, organisations or local community cafes, please encourage them to add themselves to Co-operate. By joining Co-operate, they can reach more people in their area, find volunteers, equipment or gain support to grow.

We also need even more local groups to join Food Share so we can support even more people from going hungry. If you know a not-for-profit organisation that could benefit, please encourage them to sign up here to become a partner. We’d love to see at least one charity receiving our unsold products in every community across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I hope everyone can continue to support the next phase of our campaign to help support those going hungry. However you choose to get involved, please continue to share the campaign with your customers and communities, and together we can do amazing things.
