By Paul Gerrard, Campaigns & Public Affairs Director

Following the success of last year’s digitally led meeting and in line with the latest government coronavirus restrictions, we’re going to be taking the same approach and livestreaming this year’s AGM.

We’ll livestream the meeting via Zoom from 1 Angel Square on Saturday 15 May and we’re asking members to tune in and vote on everything beforehand.

Just like last year, members will be able to submit questions and interact with us on the day, and there’ll be more information on our website about how that’ll all work soon.

As part of the meeting arrangements, there’ll be a small number of eligible colleague members at 1 Angel Square to make sure we meet the governance requirements for the AGM, but they’re all local to the area and will be following strict social distancing guidelines.

As a member owned business, it’s massively important to us that members still have the chance to get involved in our democracy and vote on:

  • Our motions, which cover important things like what we campaign on and how we work. Amongst other things, this year you can have your say on how we support a modern and inclusive Co-operative Movement, how we can tackle climate change through sustainable production and food consumption, and how we can help tackle inequality and food poverty
  • Our Member Nominated Directors who help set the business strategy, oversee our commercial and financial performance and make sure we’re staying true to our values and principles
  • Our Council Members who are elected from across the UK and make sure members’ voices and interests are heard at the highest level in our business.

Have your say

If you’re eligible, you’ll receive an invitation to vote via email or post by Friday 23 April before voting closes on Monday 10 May.

To be eligible, you need to have spent £250 at Co-op Food in the 2020 financial year or purchased a Co-op product in one of our other businesses. You can check if you’re eligible by emailing AGM@coop.co.uk or by logging into your membership account and selecting ‘your eligibility to vote’.

All voting is online, so you won’t receive a bulky paper pack like you might have in the past, unless you’ve opted to cast your vote by post.

If you’re eligible and don’t receive an email or letter by Wednesday 28 April, or if you just want to know more about this year’s AGM, please email the team using AGM@coop.co.uk
