By Caoilionn Hurley, Managing Director, Co-op Legal Services
At Co-op Legal Services we help people understand and use the law to protect the people they love, making navigating legal matters fairer for our colleagues, members and customers when they need us the most.
Our teams have been working incredibly hard to develop an exciting new service that supports our Co-op vision, Co-operating for a fairer world, through the delivery of a portfolio of strong, digital legal products. I’m delighted to now introduce our digital lasting power of attorney (LPA).
An LPA is an important document to have. It allows you to appoint someone who you trust to manage your financial affairs and make decisions about healthcare for you, should you ever be unable to do this for yourself. Without an LPA in place, nobody automatically has the right to make these decisions for you, not even your immediate family. You can read more information on what an LPA is, how it works and why it’s important here.
Available online 24/7, our new digital LPA is the first of its kind. Although it’s digital, it’s not simply a DIY process. It’s been cleverly designed to unravel some of the legal complexities by guiding you through several comprehensive questions and scenarios. As you progress through the process, it prompts you to consider your individual wishes and understand what options are available to you. All of the resulting documents will be reviewed by a legal specialist, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Exclusive Colleague Offer
In celebration of this exciting new product, Co-op Colleagues (along with your friends and family) are being offered the chance to benefit from a 50% saving on the cost for a limited period. A single LPA will cost £60, while two will cost £105.
If you or someone you know would be interested in taking up this offer, please complete this registration form and we’ll be in touch. The offer is available for a limited period and there are a limited number available, so please make sure you register your interest by 30 July 2021.
So, if you don’t yet have an LPA, or maybe you have an existing one that doesn’t contain all the guidance you want it to, make sure you check this out. Your feedback is also greatly encouraged to help ensure the full process of obtaining the digital LPA is as good as it possibly can be.
Not only will you receive a great service at an unbeatable price, but by setting it up while you’re fit and healthy, you’ll have the peace of mind knowing that no matter what may happen, your health and financial matters will be managed should the unexpected happen.
Please note, this service is only available to individuals who own property or assets in England or Wales. You can only make an LPA for yourself, it’s not possible to make an LPA on someone else’s behalf. The digital LPA service does not include registration – the LPA will need to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) before it can be used, and a registration fee will be payable to them. Full instructions on how to register your LPA will be provided.
