By Della McDonald, Co-op Store Manager in Ripponden and Council Member
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) isn’t the only way that Co-op members get to have a say in our Co-op and over the summer, Council members like me have been working closely with the Join in team to organise a series of live ‘Join in’ events for members, which will be taking place throughout October.
This year, we’re once again taking our events online, so it’s easier than ever for colleagues to get involved.
At the events, which are hosted by your Council members, we’ll be showcasing some of the different ways that we bring to life our vision of Co-operating for a fairer world.
There’ll be a live Q&A session where members and colleagues can put questions to members of our Executive team and our Member Nominated Directors – we’ll be doing our best to answer as many as we can during the event!
You can hear from colleagues in the ethics team on how we’re planning to tackle our climate change commitments and how you can help.
You’ll also be able to find out more about our partnerships with charities MIND, SAMH and Inspire and share your ideas on what Co-op can do for colleagues and members needing mental health support or experiencing a bereavement.
We’ll be finishing off with a live cooking demo, which we’re streaming from our Foodology kitchens in 1 Angel Square. We’ve set our chefs the challenge of cooking up some simple and affordable recipes using products our customers have donated through our community fridge partnership with Hubbub, so I’m excited to see what tasty treats they come up with!
For store colleagues like me, these events offer a great chance to hear the views of our members and find out about all the different ways that members can get involved and make a difference. And because they’re on Zoom, it’s easier than ever to get along to one of them!
Book your place now and have your say in our Co-op.
