Join In this January

By Claire Cameron, Member Participation Campaigns Officer

It was a record-breaking year for member participation in 2021 with more Co-op Members than ever getting involved to help us create and shape our products and services.

In fact, over the past 12 months, colleagues and members joined in more than half a million times to share ideas, have their say and work with us on all things Co-op – donating the equivalent time of a full-time team of 21 people for a whole year!

So, a big thank you for getting involved.

As we head into the new year, we’ve got some fantastic opportunities for colleagues to Join In with this month, and plenty of prizes up for grabs too.

Here’s a quick round-up:

Do you turn to tea?

During the past two years, we’ve been regularly checking in on our members’ wellbeing and, as we approach Time to Talk Day – a national day devoted to talking about mental health – on 3 February, we thought we’d find out if a cup of tea really does help you get through the difficult times.

Let us know in our poll and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a ‘catch up’ kit packed with the ingredients you need to get the conversation going.

Join the mission

Over the past year, we’ve been working with Co-op Members on our new community missions, which are funded through our Community Partnerships Fund.

Members have shared some great ideas of how they, Co-op and our partners can work together to deliver fairness in opportunities for young people, mental wellbeing support and access to food.

Now we’d like you to lend your voice to support the projects. So why not join our mission and help us bring those ideas to life for a chance to win £50 on your membership card?

Take our campaigns quiz

From tackling loneliness and supporting modern slavery victims, to climate justice, social mobility and ensuring our Co-op colleagues are safe – we’ve had an incredible five years of campaigning on the issues that our colleagues and members care about.

Co-op colleagues like yourself play an integral role in our campaigns, so we’d like to hear how you want to be more involved in Co-op campaigns in 2022 and beyond.

Watch a short video that shares some of this proud history, then take the quiz to put yourself in the running for a £50 prize.

It’s thanks to our members that we were able to celebrate some of the amazing acts of neighbourliness in 2021 too.

In partnership with Neighbourhood Watch, we asked Co-op Members to get involved and nominate that special someone who has gone above and beyond in their local community for a Neighbour of the Year award.

You can read Co-op Member Olivia Warburton’s amazing story about why she nominated her mum, Lynnette Pryke, and how she felt when she was chosen as this year’s winner.

Why not make it your new year’s resolution to Join In this January?
