By Lois McClure, Assistant Partnership Manager
By now, I hope everyone has seen the news that we’re going back to some of the UK’s biggest festivals this summer.
We’re really excited to be in the fields, bringing the very best of Co-op to hundreds of thousands of festival-goers.
We do need your help though! We’re still asking for colleagues to apply to be part of our festival crew! We need over 600 of you to work with us throughout these nine festivals, which include:
- Download Festival – 6 – 13 June
- Isle of Wight Festival – 14 – 20 June
- Glastonbury Festival – 20 – 27 June
- Latitude Festival – 19 – 25 July
- Belladrum Festival – 26 – 31 July
- Kendal Calling Festival – 26 July – 1 August
- Reading Festival – 22 – 29 August
- Leeds Festival – 22 – 29 August
- Creamfields Festival – 23 – 29 August
My experience working at festivals
I work in the Partnerships team, so we’re the ones who help bring the shops to life throughout the duration of the festivals. It’s a complicated operation! We work closely with each of the individual festival organisers to make sure we have our store and campsite ready to go for our colleagues.
We also work with many teams across our business to make this happen; commercial, merchandising, supply chain, food policy, format, data operations, property, IT, HR, RSC, logistics, PR, campaigns… just to name a few! It really does take amazing work across the business to make our festival stores happen. The planning for each year starts straight after one festival season ends as we always try to improve processes and also build on our festival activations each year.
My team also make sure the festival crew have everything they need to run our stores and serve customers through our doors in a totally different environment. Once everyone is at the festival, have done the training and are in their tents – we hand over to our Store Managers and retail experts to effectively run the store throughout the festival.
We need you too!
Applications are still open until Wednesday 6 April! You only have two days left, so there’s no time to waste. If you’re sitting on the fence about it, I’d really encourage you to read some of our previous colleague stories about the festivals and find out first-hand about other’s experiences.
We’re looking for colleagues across the business too. We’ve had many colleagues joining us from Logistics, Funeralcare, Support Centre and Legal Services. Everyone’s invited – you’ll be trained and supported throughout.
A lot of work goes in behind the scenes to make this experience as memorable and exciting as possible for our colleagues, customers and members – and I can’t wait to see many of you in the fields later this summer.
